I'm doing research on backend development for a product I'm working on.

I would like to know where I can ask developers to take my survey on StackEchange. I'm looking for a good topic without looking like a spammer.

Thank you,

If there is a specific problem attached to this research

Most likely SO Discussions if and only if you could phrase it as a problem you're having1, and the survey was put as a related external post.
1Which could be backed up by your research on backend development

To quote directly from the guideline on self-promotion:

Avoid self promotion

If your post happens to be about your product or website, you must disclose your affiliation. See spam guidelines and best practices

If you decide to post on SO Discussions, here are some things to keep in mind:

  1. Remember to talk about the problem. Discussions with only a small amount of text describing the problem will most likely be closed due to spam.
  2. The main focus of the discussion is the problem. Don't talk about the product too much.
  3. After talking about the problem, show why the external link(s)2 are important and related to it.
  4. Remember to disclose your affiliation with said external links.

2In this case your survey

In general

However, that is if and only if there is a specific problem attached to it. In general, self-promotion is frowned upon.

If that is what you are going for, at the bottom of the linked page, it says that if you are only wanting traffic going to your site, that you should not post a question/answer.

In that case, you should contact their ad sales team for advertising pricing details, as they are said to be reasonable.

An option would be to ask a question that links to your survey on Stack Overflow. Stack Overflow is a large community of developers where you can find expertise in various programming and development-related topics.

You should create a survey online and provide a link within the body of your question. Make sure that it will be easily accessible for users who are interested in participating.

  • If you did this, your question would be closed as spam within minutes. SO is for specific questions about programming issues. Posting on SO's meta site wouldn't work either.
