Slight up leveling of this question to make it more approachable and be less of a software requirements talk. If we discuss in terms of a members' experience it should be easier to understand and still help generate ideas for new software requirements.

Feb 6, 2016 at 17:53 | comment | added | Tunero_Uchiha | @GregChase Yeah you're right, but we think what we're offering isn't enough that's why i asked this question in the first place.. We chose to create our forum community from scratch to have full control of doing whatever we want with it can you please give us an answer to this question please?
Feb 6, 2016 at 16:55 | comment | added | Greg Chase | One other question: why was the reason made to hand make the community platform rather than just use a service, site, or even one of several free and open source versions out there? The reasons to roll your own are often indicative of important cultural or special requirements and expectations of fostering the community.

Feb 5, 2016 at 14:26 | comment | added | Monica Cellio | Thanks for the edit; that helps. One more suggestion: I think you'd be better of splitting the registration question in your last paragraph into its own post. It's better to have one question per question, and this one is about attracting and keeping your audience. Conversion (getting visitors to actually sign up) is a related but different problem. Thanks.

Feb 4, 2016 at 23:36 | comment | added | Monica Cellio | This is pretty broad as written. Could you edit in some more details about your intended community? Size, demographics, level of technical engagement and Internet savvy, social properties (info site vs social network; that's a spectrum), type and depth of content -- all that stuff factors in. Please tell us more about your project.
